THE CHALLENGE: LEVEL-UP Octane
Octane® is Cardinal Financial’s proprietary loan origination system (LOS), trusted by internal teams to power mortgage operations. As the platform evolved over 15+ years, it needed a modern, market-ready identity that reflected its critical role, improved usability, and could support broader adoption.
As Art Director, I helped shape Octane’s brand persona to feel confident, forward-thinking, and informative, and implemented a flexible design system that bridges product experiences with marketing communications.
APPROACH
This transformation was driven by deep collaboration, strategic insight, and creative passion across cross-functional teams. The goal was to translate Octane’s complex functionality into a clear, intuitive, and visually cohesive experience.
We refined the logo, typography, and color palette to communicate confidence, reliability, and approachability, while developing a modular design system for both the product interface and supporting marketing materials. This design system provided consistency across screens, platforms, and campaigns, allowing the brand to evolve alongside the product. Through collaboration with product, UI/UX, and marketing teams, design balanced technical precision with a human-centered tone, creating a brand that is both functional and memorable.
MY Role
I led the creative vision and drove the brand evolution across all touchpoints. My responsibilities included:
Brand strategy and positioning to clearly define Octane’s value and role in the mortgage ecosystem
Design direction for product and marketing, including refined logo, color palette, typography, and modular UI components
Video and motion direction, including editing automation process to reskin video content based on channel focus
Cross-functional collaboration, guiding UI/UX, product, and marketing teams to implement the brand consistently and effectively
OUTCOME
Together, these efforts positioned Octane as not just a tool, but a powerful, market-ready solution for today’s mortgage professionals.
